THE VALUE OF GOD'S CREATIONS

bosshogg

The round stone has had an old ball superimposed on it. Otherwise, it is a "straight" shot.

I like the irony of the message...the value of this creation of God is a minimum of 1'000.- $ while you could expect that it's priceless, so the bargain is real good...such contradictions are really both funny and ironic about a part of our society wanting to put a measurable value to everything...

Hey what do mean....? $1000 bucks is a ton a cash to me....! I might even say it was a magnificant amount! Interesting that these stones have what apears to be the American flag on it....is that why we have in god we trust on our money? Eggcellent composition...! wvmm

Dave, I love this! It would seem to have been smart to leave a space to fill in the value. Over time the value would increase due to inflation. On the other hand, if someone were to dig up 48 of these in his back yard, the value of this one might go down. But this may be the only one ever found painted like an American flag. That would no doubt make it priceless.

I don't get it. What's so special about this petrified basketball? Well, ya know, it's almost in the shape of a different sort of balls, and those would deserve to be on pedestals, man. Without those there would be no future Nikon engineers. Can you imagine being stuck with a D200 for the rest of your life, unable to upgrade? Some food for thought. Cheers, Micheal

Poor God. He creates man and this is the best symbol of God's magnificence his own best creation can come up with?

But the price tag ain't bad!

Thanks for presenting it in all its magnificence. It's hard to believe it was this magnificent in real life. You sure you didn't photoshop some of the magnificence in?

Dr. De Santa Anna: A thousand bucks is just two of your pictures sold, but twenty of mine. Quit your whining. Here's my whine. You never come visit anymore. Where's the love?

Doug: It is pretty special, and you are quite right that the number must change on a daily basis. Can you imagine a plaque on the wall of El Capitan in Yosemite for instance, announcing that this typifies the beauty of God's creations and it is estimated to be worth two gazillion dollars? Tacky

Micheal: Hey, what would be wrong with being stuck with a Nikon D200 for life. I'll never learn to operate it properly in my lifetime. As for that ball thing, that's just too philosophical for me...

Fred: I thank you for the compliment of thinking that I could have enhanced the magnificence of this sight. We both know deep in our hearts that I could not have improved it. Not even for a thousand dollars!

You sure have an eye for the strange and unique, Dave. And who knows, this rock may still be around long after we humans are gone. Barb :)

This has really got me stumped. Is this monument an expression of fervant religious patriotism?; is it kitsch?; is it an ironic statemnt so avant garde that it sails like a cannonball over the heads of the masses?; or perhaps a bulky exercise in Dada? Exactly how many is a "limited number" ("get your monument sphere's at Zack's Emporium. Remember there's just a limited number"). Is it the rock itself the symbolizes God's creation or the Stars and Stripes which adorns it?. Was this unearthed with sphere miraculously tatooed, a proof perhaps of that we are God's favorite team? Would a sphere found in China have a Red Star, perhaps evidence that there is a rival God with his own favorite team? So many, many questions.

David, I'm a complete atheist, I don't know what are you, but I think that if it would have been sold after being "weighted" the price of God would have been augmented..... What an ironic symbolism.... I wonder where did YOU find it;-))

You bring up too many things to discuss here and now. Suffice it to say that this God and man thing is one of my favorite topics. Here's to another year of my being able to enjoy your images, and your lucid commentary.

I too am an atheist. In my more optimistic moments I become an agnostic. Most religion scares the crap out of me whether it be Islam or Christianity. Our country is becoming as fanatical as Iran, Iraq, North Korea, or Nazi Germany, and that bothers me a great deal. Long term I'm very pessimistic about man's ability to survive. We are not such a smart species as so many wish to think, and religion is just one of the indicators of our stupidity. But in the meantime, there is some joy to be had and pleasure to be taken, so those little victories will be savored whenever possible and I shall try to fight on the side of sanity and not be overcome with fear about the future for my grandchildren. Peace to you my dear pnina.

Going once, going twice, sold to the highest bidder, a $1,000 dose of rock solid redemption! It's a petrified football! Where in the world do you find this "stuff" David?! One man's junk is another man's treasure......cliches, cliches. If that chunk of junk is a symbol of God's magnificence then we're all in a lot of trouble when judgement day rolls around.....well, for us believers anyway. LOL LOL LOL.....is that like saying I'm rolling on the floor?!

No, the official Internet Protocol is ROTFL. Well, if your religious beliefs turn out to be on the mark, you sure as hell (whoops!) have my vote to get in. You are a sweetheart.

This shot has me at a complete loss. "It symbolizes the Magnificence of God's creation." Who wrote that? All you have to do is look outside to see "Gods Creation". You can look in any direction...there it is.... I'm with you Susan when judgement comes around.

Merry Christmas to All!

Thank you. I'm anticipating a wonderful holiday (even if we do have to host the feast this year), and hope yours is equally terrific. Take care.

I just noticed something when I flipped back to the thumbnail view: the overall shape of this monument to His Glorious Creation is like a keyhole. Godda be some kind of symbolism there.

No doubt if there is, an observer as keen as you would ascertain it. I await. It should also be noted that this was NOT taken in Fresno. Merry Christmas
