bosshogg 4 Posted November 27, 2007 Not sure why anybody would be in the middle of the desert with spare shoes to hang here, but it's a strange world. Link to comment
ldavidson 4 Posted November 27, 2007 David, it certainly is a strange world. This is wonderful. I love images like this, strange, odd, mysterious. Very nice! Link to comment
laurent_jaussi 0 Posted November 27, 2007 an original finding David...did you add your contribution and continue your trip on one foot ?........it reminds me of an action at the UN here in Geneva where people were asked to bring an used shoe to protest againts military antipersonal mines and bomb with submunitions...again a photo that allow discussion and interpretations...that's what I like.... Answering your reply on my earlier comment, yes I was out for a trip in South Africa with my job, I am currently working on photos taken there (my 3 last image posts were in Cape Town) but time is scarce these days with job and family taking it all, so I'll contribute again as time allows.... bosshogg 4 Posted November 27, 2007 Your absence is felt and regretted, but one must do what one must do. I look forward to your postings from South Africa. How interesting that must be. Thanks for viewing and commenting. I'm always glad to hear from you. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted November 27, 2007 Yes, sometimes too strange. Although in this one is just funny strange. Thanks for coming by and leaving a comment. Link to comment

alight 0 Posted November 27, 2007 this photo is not only funny, but it actually looks good. I like the colours. The blue sky forms a really pleasing background. So...did you return home with some spare shoes? Why nobody makes a V8 tree? Cheers, Micheal Link to comment
kcorbett 0 Posted November 28, 2007 If you take a look at the bottoms of these shoes the soles are almost gone - or they should be. (smile) It's a symbol of freedom - from what I've been told. When you take R66 you throw off the old and jump in with the new. (smile) Not sure what the duck means. ;) Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted November 28, 2007 Thanks for enlightening me. I didn't leave my shoes there. The duck? Maybe he was just tired of the same old routine of North in summer, South in winter, and hung himself in despair. Link to comment
susan stone 0 Posted November 29, 2007 How in the hell do you find these wacky places....it must be some Karmic draw from a past life as a Gypsy that keeps you stumbling across the mundane detritus of common lives. I think this is a wonderful expression of someone's hidden creative bent. The duck is the icing on the cake. I hope you never stop posting the silly and sometimes sad side of life, there's always a story to be told. I miss our friend Juan checking in from time to time and leaving his always interesting take on our photographic missions. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted November 29, 2007 You are getting to be a bit of a rare commodity around here too. Yes, things are duller without Juan, for sure. As for finding this stuff, I've had the great fortune of traveling quite a bit this last year, and I'm sure anyone putting on as many miles as I have in 2007, would have come up with just as much, if not more, good stuff. Guest Guest Posted November 30, 2007 You've produced a lot of interesting photographs over the past year, and this one is no exception. Technically, it's good with nice colors and good composition. But your work is not so much about technique as it is about originality and showing the (sometimes) strange world we live in. Not everyone has your eye David - even if we all would embark on the exact same trip(s) as you did this year, we would all end up with different photographs because we all have differing perspectives. Your view on the world is always original, and this shot displays exactly that very well. Oh, and I agree with Susan - the duck _is_ the icing on the cake. Very funny shot. Frank Link to comment
