alberta_pizzolato 21 Posted November 27, 2007 Hi Dave: Each one of the three shots in this series has merit IMO. Greens lover that I am, this shot satisfies my need for some nature with my steel beams. The horizon might be a little bit tilted downward to the right (or it could be the wine I had with dinner :) And I might add just a bit more contrast. Lovely composition. I shall now look up what it is I'm looking at in the Wikipedia. Thanks for sharing! Cheers - Link to comment
shots worth sharing 1 Posted November 27, 2007 Thanks (again!) While I agree the B&W is the best so far, I kind of like the muted colors here. Part of the issue with all three shots is that fact that they were taken on fairly gloomy days. Don't be suprised if I re-shoot some sunny afternoon (although that may have to wait until the foliage returns.) One of the things I like about this is the real and false reflection of the branches on the left side. To satisfy your voracious curiosity: You're looking east at I-395 near where the Gwynns Falls (the stream which runs past my house and is portrayed in several shots in my Rivers & Streams folder) empties into the Patapsco estuary which is Baltimore's link to the Chesapeake Bay. For a clearer sense of how this all fits, enter "Bayard St.and Warner St., Baltimore, MD" into your favorite on-line mapping utility. I think you may be right about the tilt--it was hard to get a good bead on that. Link to comment
stupski 0 Posted November 30, 2007 Very nice, clear shot Dave. I know EXACTLY where this spot is....now I'll have to post one of Middle Branch too. :o) This is so illusionistic with these reflections...almost can't tell what's real and what's not. Re the tilt, this bridge does tilt up and down in reality, so that part doesn't bother me at all. If not for that little jetty on the right, it would be very difficult to keep your balance on this shot! Good work. Link to comment
shots worth sharing 1 Posted November 30, 2007 I'm sure you know this spot! Another thing I like about it is that the foliage--especially on the left--recalls prints and paintings of early Maryland scenes. Link to comment
