Mike Marcotte 50,146 Posted November 18, 2007 That's a very interesting image to me David. One of my favorites of yours. I know there's a metaphore in there somewhere, I just can't explain it. Very nice Link to comment
alight 0 Posted November 18, 2007 how did you get the paint off your hand? Man, I didn't know you were such a dedicated artist. Must be the V8 boosts. How do you figure it's a lover's hand? Well, I'm glad that you're in love ;-) Anyway, I like the look of it. Cheers, Micheal Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted November 18, 2007 Hey, you goofball, that's not my hand! See the heart? They use that all over the place to mean "I love." So with the letter "r" down below, it became I love r hand. Okay, so I stretched a little. Also note that I posted a purty picture today. Ha hah. Link to comment
baerbel 0 Posted November 18, 2007 Dave, Dave, Dave! Sort of a risque' story you are telling us here. A heart, a hand - a dripping one at that - and one intial. Made me laugh, actually. Poor R needs to find a mate, I would say, and you better watch out for the porn police. PN prefers us to stick with sunsets, pretty flowers and birdies. :) Link to comment
jcpopper 0 Posted November 18, 2007 Dave: A very odd thumb... but a fine shot! In fact, it's the best b&w of a handprint I've seen in a long time. Regards, Joe Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted November 18, 2007 We are such temporary little mayflies, we seek permenence, something - anything - to mark our passing. During WWII "Kilroy was here" was inscribed on walls at home and abroad. Now the question is "Kilroy? Who's Kilroy?"; or even "WWII, what's WWII?" Quite aside from my philosophical ramblings, it's a great shot with the dripping paint frozen in its tug of war with gravity. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted November 19, 2007 Well, you will note that I did post one purty picture. That's my quota for the year. The rest will be disturbing, ugly, and quintessentially insignificant. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted November 19, 2007 I have both my thumbs. It ain't me. Fingerprint examination is pending. My bet is on it turning out to be Jimmy Hoffa. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted November 19, 2007 Well, we are showing our age a bit aren't we? Kilroy? I'd completely forgotten about him. I suppose modern graffitos are commemorating their passage through life the same way as the Kilroy folks did. Somehow Kilroy is more welcome into my life than all the rest of the garbage written on the walls. Link to comment
mariolupo 0 Posted November 20, 2007 Contemporary Art. Romantic title, you nearly mislead Micheal. :-) In my outback travels seen quite few similar signs, sans script , the aboriginals left on sacred sites, in caves. Modern man still tempted to leave personal messages, old idea, new mediums, more mess. Good capture Dave , good b/w. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted November 20, 2007 Thanks, Mario, for your great commentary. I guess the urge to leave behind some evidence of our existence is a powerful one. That could have been the incentive here, and is certainly the incentive for my photography. Link to comment
rossy topalova 0 Posted December 1, 2007 I like this one and I like your style to talk, but I want to make you one friendly criticism. Shall you give me a permission? You take a photos with a samyprofessional camera. You have very philosopher's thinking about the world and I still wonder what about you stopped to make your thinking of world in art scenic only with a help of light and yor camera. This I can't afford but why you don't try if you want ? Sorry about my horrified English. I hope you understand me. But here you may see one of my teachers in a scenic photography http://art.transindex.ro/?cikk=175. He is from my country. This photos was taken with film camera and some of that was collored handly. He has good sence of humor and maybe he is very sensitive persone but with good instinct of self-preservation. There are the other interesting authors, the some of that you may be know from photo.net Good luck for you and I will be very happy to see your first attemp in art scenic photography when you will be ready to make this kind of arts. Chears with good wish for your happy in all your life :) I will make glad to see soon. Good Bye! Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted December 2, 2007 Thanks for coming over and taking a look. I'm not one hundred per cent sure of exactly what you were trying to tell me. I went to the website you suggested, and there were many interesting photos there, but I did not understand exactly what the connection to me was. Link to comment
radioactive 0 Posted January 3, 2008 I dont know why EJR left his mark for you to find and photograph David, but this simple shot is vast in its humanity. Yes... I said HUMANITY. Man has been leaving his hand on walls like this since God made walls (and man). To some pedestrian viewers this may seem mundane and provincial, but there is a spiritual awareness and indelible emotion that connect us (the viewer) with this human being. We may not know who EJR was, but we know he was here, and we know we are not alone. For out there? somewhere EJR walked among us wanted to let us know he was here?if nothing else... he was here. Ok... this may seem a bit pretentions going on and on about a painted hand print. But I wanted to start the New Year off with a bang up critique of your most amazing work. Keep at it Boss. Love the junk. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted January 3, 2008 I'm kind of surprised this attracted you. Your stuff usually is so much more visually complex. But I'm grateful that it appeals and I'm very impressed with your thoughts on it. Take care brother. I'm looking forward to some great images from you in 2008. Link to comment
