Clearing Storm over Ama Dablam

Clearing Storm over Ama Dablam.Fifteen minutes before this I was surrounded by fog and visibility was 5-6 meters. The clouds magically cleared at the peak of alpenglow lighting and I feel extremely fortunate that I was able to capture the moment.

WOW, that is some intense light. I like how you've rendered the surrounding areas, including the sky, close to black to really bring our the blazing alpenglow on the peak. Well captured.

Just another compliment for the beautiful photo. I feel the sky is way much darker than I have ever seen, but out there...I don;t know ..its a different world.

Great shot! Was this taken just a few days ago?

Karl,

Thanks for taking the time to comment. This is an unusual view of Ama Dablam looking directly at the NorthWest face (The more familiar view is from the Southwest). The point on the left is the true summit and the one on the right is a much lower shoulder formation that appears huge from this foreshortened perspective. Lhotse is to my left and Everest directly behind Lhotse. Nuptse is behind me to the left. I could not see Everest from here.

Lovely, Thanx for sharing micheal...

Someday I will hike to those places.

Now I am looking at the wide angle panorama of the range and trying to figure out where you were standing :-) Seems like you did some glacial walk there? How high did you go? I assume you went from Tibet side? Ama Dablam looks so far from any of the Nuptse and Lhotse peak?
