Hi Bente: I would love to know what equipment you're using. I wonder if this is a scan or conversion from a photo positive. There appear to be two scratches on the image - one on the nose and one above the left eye. Thanks -

Very nice portrait.

It's taken with a Canon 40D ... and this is right out of the camera. You are right about one of the scratches you mention. The cat has a scratsch on his nose. The one over the left eye you are mentioning I can't see myself.

 

BTW .. my first photo with the 40D.

Very nice DOF with the focus being primarily on the cat's left eye. Good lighting too. Personally, I'd clone out the white dot highlights to the left of the cat. All in all, a very pleasing image.

In a matter of fact I 'stole' this 40D from my hubby. I was not sure if I should have one too or I should choose the Nikon D300 when it is released in November. It was the lenses making the decision for me. I'm pretty satiesfied with my 24-105 L and I couldn't see Nikon having a lense being close to that without having more than one lense - and more to carry around with ... so yes .. I finally ended up buying the Canon 40D too .... and will wait to see if there soon will be an replacement for the 5D .... to an affordelel price. Guess I'm a Canon girl. Smile.

You are right about the placement of the focus is placed on the left eye .. and you are also right it might be worth cloning out the white spots. Thanks for telling me and glad you took your time here.
