mpitak 0 Posted October 7, 2007 Very good portrait. Great balance between blacks and whites. Link to comment
pakivotis 0 Posted October 7, 2007 Truly a great portrait; apart from the excellent expression it's the story the details tell in this portrait that is the strong point. Congratulations! Link to comment
rapo 0 Posted October 8, 2007 That's a very very good portrait. Amazing presence and strength feeling. I like his clothes a lot. I just wonder about the tones on the face. Maybe a tad more contrast would be good? Link to comment
alberta_pizzolato 21 Posted October 9, 2007 Needs nothing - just perfect. I especially love the eyes - so focused on the lens. The DOF is fantastic, like 3D. Excellent! Link to comment
jcpopper 0 Posted October 11, 2007 Powerful, direct, moving... A great portrait! Regards... Link to comment
markonestudios 4 Posted October 11, 2007 Thank you all for your kind comments and critiques. I did not do any post-processing on this apart from colour conversion, because I wanted to portray my grandfather as he is... intense, thoughtful. Link to comment
mark_starr 0 Posted August 11, 2008 Just stopped by to look at more of your portraits and had to add to the comments on this one, although I can only echo what has been said above - absolutely fantastic portrait in every way. This is certainly a man who demands our respect - his stare goes right through the viewer leaving us no doubt that he is a man to be reckoned with. I like the contrast between the coat and tie on one hand and the hat on the other. It seems as though he is equally at home in both, and at the same time. The tones are perfect throughout the image, and the cropping you have used is as direct and no-nonsense as this gentleman - exactly suited to the sitter. This is the type of portrait that should be immediately framed and hung in the most prominent spot available. Excellent work- Mark Link to comment
