jeffl7 0 Posted September 14, 2007 Interestingly, this reminds me exactly of a corner in a mall in San Antonio, Texas. Exactly--the column, the tile, the table with wares, even the garbage can. The difference is only the person. For me, I have an extremely personal reaction that this is a unique scene, but nevertheless universal. People are people, and life is life no matter where and who you are. Thanks for a visual reminder. Link to comment
laurent_jaussi 0 Posted September 14, 2007 I like the composition with lines and the diagonal...the floor graphics that looks like piano keys....and the two persons embeded in the scene...very nice life scene Pnina... Link to comment

cherlyn 1 Posted September 14, 2007 I like the angle form by the ceiling & the pillar, sort of balanced with what is on the ground. Link to comment
joe-tury 0 Posted September 15, 2007 I agree with Cherlyn's points. I especially like the pov. Link to comment
adan1 0 Posted September 15, 2007 I would be looking forward to your series Pnina. I find Israel fascinating and hopefully I will travel there one of these days. This is a very good documentary capture. The black's and white's grab my attention here and on the left everything is so colorful. It's like the use of colors (or lack of them) sets the tone for this composition. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted September 15, 2007 Adan, thanks for your extensive comments, I hope to have that series soon. If you come to Israel, let me know, I will give you some tips...;-)) Jerusalem is like a special planet in Israel... worth a long visit to really understand the way of life there. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted September 15, 2007 I very much enjoy the elements of this image. The floor tiles are like a chess board. I know you will disagree with me, but I will express my opinion anyway and hope you forgive my stupidity. I find that I would prefer a crop that takes out the table and the items on it at the left. Just the pillar, the rail and everything from there to the right showing. To me that would be more congruous with the floor , the walls and architecture, and a great counterpoint to the black and white habit of the gentleman. And then, there would be only a little splash of blue as the colorful counterpoint. Even as is though, it is quite wonderful. I find the old style dress of the man and the new technology (relatively, anyway) of the cellphone to be intriguing. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted September 15, 2007 Biswajite thanks for your feedback. David, thanks for expressing your point of view, always ready to hear it. It is a possibility ,but I think that this kind of crop will give the round pillar too much attention, I will try to explain why I think that the composition as is , is ballanced, so here go's.... I was standing on the second floor looking down, the upper white triangle has an "answer" of a shadowed triangle on the wall behind the man.The table on the L has a diagonal line that is compatible to the one on the R side( behind the can), so the pillar is not so accentuated, takes less attention from the whole. even the small form on the upper part of the table has an " answer" in the garbage can..... the tiles have an "answer" on the upper part( 3 shadowed somethings.... there are some other small things , but I think it is enough to understand). Aside from all this, it is a very busy surrounding. The red table and blues on the R side IMO are hinting on what is going on, noisy, colorful, so the man looked for a small corner to talk, and you are right his dark clothed figure with the mobil phone in that surrrounding was what grabbed my attention.... I hope you will understand my logic David, thanks for commenting. Link to comment

daily_photograph 0 Posted September 15, 2007 I like this unbalanced way, inviting to rove in the composition ... Link to comment
Donna Stavis 0 Posted September 16, 2007 Effective part, suggesting a whole of the mall in Jerusalem with clever framing, showing bits of extensions in several directions of the interiors. Excellent artistry. The hasid seems a symbol or a "type." He is defined mainly by what he wears (and his action of mindlessly playing with his beard or earlock), which suggests what he represents--how he would function, his attitudes, how he would vote, and live in Jerusalem and in Israel. Well done, Pnina. You've captured the atmosphere so well--I can feel it--bemet. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted September 16, 2007 Amal, , I hope to do it soon Alberto, thanks! Daily, as ususal, even your comments are original ;-)) Donna, thanks for your comment, but look again,he is talking on the phone.... and as you know they don't hesitate to use the new technologies when it fits them... richard hans 0 Posted September 17, 2007 Very nice perch to get unique result, the men just in the right position, makes great contrast, also the diagonal shadows & light at background add more interesting dimension, and perfect interplay of different orientation lines, Pnina, what a depth, excellent capture & very well execution!!!
