This one requires some close observation. I very much appreciate the manner in which the person with his back to us has his arms quite rigidly at his side. Almost military. And the the gentleman across the street in the yellow shirt almost holds the exact same pose. And then the couple and other man crossing also mimic the pose, although not seemingly so rigidly. Very nice timing.

I am so glad I found you. You are quickly becoming a favorite study of mine. There is life and absurdity here, almost a surreal quality to a very mundane scene. You've captured an almost Magritte-like sensibility with no tricks, no overt techniques, no self-consciousness. This is honest, straightforward, accutely observed photographing. The postural relationship of the three main figures couldn't have come together any better if you had posed them (wouldn't have come together any better, in fact). The background of the wide street lines just increases the static nature of the poses and offers a compelling contrast to the life that is just happening here. Life happens all the time. Good photographers capture moments that ring true and offer an insightful vision. You've succeeded.

Fred thanks for you thoughtful comments...it's strange how sometimes a photo contain some inner energy that is not evident to perceive when looking at the individual elements but work as a whole...I could not agree more with your perception...again many thanks...

Fred's comment tells it all. You just have that special gift to see and frame things around. Never felt your presence on your images. Are you invisible? If anything wasn't in it's place here, it was the 'thing' on the right side. I am sure it wouldn't hurt anything if you clone it out.

Laurent, nice to see there are plenty of new photos in your portfolio. I will have great difficulties in catching up with the pace! I like that man standing in front of the crowd, both defying and wandering maybe. You've received well-deserved thoughtful comments on this one, a very good one. Laurent, thank you again for the great exchanges we've had here on Pnet.

This photo makes me tense, intentionally so, I suppose. The way the light shimmers over the white stripes pulls the viewers eye forward, but then the shoulders of this poor soul pulls me back. Stripes against plaid. Stop or walk. It's a confusing world.
