Actually, I don't quite understand how it was used. I do know that if you went into the door shown, it would lead to an entrance to a very large cellar/tunnel that was probably used for storing foodstuffs and maybe protection in the case of tornado or whatever. It ran about 15 to 20 feet back toward the windmill and came out at ground level.

This is one of my favorite views of the Marty place, I love the windmill and showing it with the old coop (rabbit or chicken, who knows) makes the scene complete. You had more green grass than I saw last week. It is really turning brown fast. You've sharpened this just right, everything looks great!

Thanks. I found the tunnel or cellar underneath this structure and going out toward the windmill to be quite fascinating. I did not go inside, because it looked rather on the verge of collapse (the tunnel, not me), and I was afraid of snakes and the boogyman. But mostly snakes!

Yes, I too saw that opening into the ground and yes, I too avoided going into it but I was worried about the mummies mostly.
