jeverz 0 Posted August 15, 2007 Very nicely done, sort of creative photo!(did you use a photoshop-filter? Just curious which filter because i like the effect.Ellen.) Link to comment
ldavidson 4 Posted August 16, 2007 Emmanuel, Thanks for looking and taking the time to comment. The effect I was attempting was that Norman Rockwell (American painter 40's) look. Link to comment
ldavidson 4 Posted August 16, 2007 Hi Ellen, Thank you. Yes, I used 'Accented Outline' in Photoshops Filter gallery. I used some others, can't remember now which ones, it may have been the watercolour effect. I did something to give it a mottled look. Sometimes I just play around until I think I've got it right. I use several layers, and blend them. Warm Regards Linda Link to comment
Emmanuel Enyinwa 0 Posted August 16, 2007 Rockwell was my first guess, but the color scheme was not as rich as his work, and his subjects rarely look away from the camera, which is why I ultimately decided against guessing Rockwell. Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted October 6, 2007 Excellent picture. The angle and color treatment are both very effective here, kind of a fly on the wall approach. I do think that a simpler frame would fit this picture better. Link to comment
ldavidson 4 Posted October 7, 2007 Jack, Thanks for commenting, I'm glad you like it. Perhaps a simple frame would have suited this one better. I sometimes get carried away with creating frames. All the best. Link to comment
CharlesBecker-Toronto 5 Posted November 10, 2007 good-really good; I like this. A personal vision of a Norman Rockwell situation. Did I mention that I like this? regards, cb :-) Link to comment
raybrizzi 0 Posted June 2, 2008 I agree with Charles. It reminds me of that Rockwell picture of the cop and the kid at the counter. I like all the reds, even extending to the little Christmas stockings By the way, in that cover, that was the (in)famous Alice's Restaurant of the song, around the back near the Red Lion in Stockbridge. I wonder if that was Officer Obie and Ray behind the counter in the picture? Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted July 12, 2008 Sometimes when I do a bit of processing I'll get a complaint or two. That's okay, so I'm not complaining. I just mention that, because I notice that none of the commentors seemed to feel it was a problem. Nobody even asked to see the original. I love the look you've come up with here. I think it would be a good image from the start, but you've given it some extra zip.It just has a "true" ring to it. Very nice work. Link to comment
raybrizzi 0 Posted July 13, 2008 Well, if people comment on it, at least you know they're looking at it! Hope you don't mind, I thought I'd bring in the picture that immediately popped into my mind when I saw yours. If you'd rather delete it, let me know here. Ray Link to comment
jeffl7 0 Posted July 14, 2008 This popped up on your sidebar, and I'm impressed how wonderful a creation it is and woefully underrated. There ain't a thing about it I don't like. Link to comment
ldavidson 4 Posted July 17, 2008 Thanks! I don't worry about ratings too much. I think sometimes images are not noticed because of the time and day they are posted and sometimes they are ignored because they just don't appeal to anyone and no one wants to tell you "that sucks!" I'm glad you like it. Link to comment
ldavidson 4 Posted July 17, 2008 Some PN members don't like processing, old school photographers who want to do all their processing in the lab. They think digital enhancement isn't "real" photography. I respect this. I think there is room here for all types of photo imaging and classic photography. I suspect that when this went through the rating and critique gauntlet the critics of Photoshop were busy in the lab. I love working in Photoshop, it has opened up a whole world of artistic posibilities to me. I'm glad you like it. Thank you for your thoughts. All the best. Link to comment
