jeffl7 0 Posted August 2, 2007 Aliens and the mothership. This photo creates figure-ground reversal for me. Initially, I looked through the cut-outs seeing the sky, but then suddenly, it reverses and becomes a grimey backdrop on which these three glowing figures float. Nicely seen. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted August 2, 2007 Thanks. That reversal is a fun thing when it happens. Peace Link to comment
Emmanuel Enyinwa 0 Posted August 2, 2007 Compelling composition again, David. You are begining to steal Jack McRitchie's thunder. Link to comment
alight 0 Posted August 2, 2007 I like your vision, and certainly the combination of all the elements, including the colours, looks interesting. For some reason the framing is not resonating with my taste; whether it's a temporary condition induced by lack of V8, or more of a permanent view, I'm not sure right now. I cropped it very tightly and attached the photo. I'm not saying it is better, it's just how I felt now. Cheers, Micheal Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted August 2, 2007 Thanks for putting so much thought into this. I don't really dislike your version. My only argument is that it seems a bit lopsided. The way I did it borders on boring symmetry, but with the single round hole at the right, I thought I avoided it at least in part. I'll drink some V8 and ponder it some. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted August 2, 2007 I have no illusions about stealing McRitchie's thunder. Link to comment
katzpjs 50 Posted August 4, 2007 At first glance I was going to suggest a different crop, but then I see that Micheal already suggested it. My crop would be similar to what Micheal has shown you, but in my opinion he removed too much off the three sides that he cropped. Nice patterns, I like them. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted August 4, 2007 It's still sitting out there, so you will have your shot (pun intended) at it. I liked the disfigurations on the lower portion, and, therefore, would not crop that part out. I still like the symmetry of the whole thing as is. Oh well, I guess that's what makes this interesting. We all have our differing views. Link to comment
