dberryhill 3 Posted May 17, 2007 This is a color version of an earlier gray upload. This has a different crop and different brightness. I'm a bit stubborn on this because the transition where I live seems so apparent in this image. All suggestions would be appreciated. Obviously I can't shoot it again and get all the same elements. michael4447 0 Posted May 17, 2007 I agree with the transition of new house going up in back. The color and sharpness on the old house is really good. I like the dark gray look to the wood and the soft light from the right of frame. It looks like a late evening shot to me. Link to comment
dberryhill 3 Posted May 17, 2007 Thanks! It was actually early morning. I darkened the scene a bit. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted May 18, 2007 If you are trying to emphasize the new and the old, then this one is better. When I first saw the other one, I found myself thinking that I would have moved to the left to try and block out the house and man. So I guess it is your intent that determines the better image. Personally, I liked the black and white one the best. Can you tell me what that object is in the third quadrant of the foreground that goes to the right edge? Link to comment
vallery 0 Posted May 18, 2007 Now I can really read the graffiti! I think this closeup view gives the impression you were going for in the construction of the new against the abandoned and forgotten. Amazing, the waste left in front - (is it from the new construction and they hope no-one sees? has it been there awhile? Is the old house going to stay? what is it? why? and so forth.... It stirs my thoughts.... That waste shows the attitude of our cast-it-off society [ but that is the nature of man]- that's why we have archaelogical digs and garage sales ;~). I like viewing the entire abandonded house in B&W but this version brings us closer to the action of the encroachment of the new world coming in. so - the two pictures are different in my mind's eye.
