Besides the well captured image, I like the location. It seems pretty wild around there! I like the monochromatic image and the color you've used for light areas! Congrats

Hey Doug, what an unusual find. Probably built about 1950 as there were a number of business structures put up around then to catch the public's eye.....Jim

This is one of those places that are easy to shoot - just point the camera toward the building and press the shutter. The picture is deceptive in that the location isn't remote. It is along what is now a busy urban highway, and is something of a landmark in Knoxville, Tennessee. I did a little research. It was built in 1930 by two guys who had an interest in aviation and an interest in attracting people to their service station. In the 1960s the building became a beer store. It has also been a produce stand, a bait and tackle shop, and a used car lot. An organization is now raising the money to restore and maintain it.

Thank you much. This is the only gas station I have ever seen that was built in the shape of an airplane. Not that it is such a big deal, but it sort of intrigued me. A kind of crude forerunner to all the visual tools businesses use now to attract customers.

WOW! What an awesome find!!!! Such a unique bldg and just to think about the guys that built it wanting it to look like an airplane being very creative. I, too, like the angle and framing. As usual, keep up the good work. By the way, it seems you are always finding shots of subject matter that both Sam and I are attracted to. Great work.

Hmmm Doug, 1930....You know that does make sense, this does resemble "the Spirit of St. Louis" that had flown the Atlantic in 1927.......A major find and well done......Jim

What a great building! I can't stop looking at this one - and I'd love to have a print! The warm tone works very well with the subject, as does the subdued tonal values in the whites. It's places like this that make the world an interesting place - when they are all gone, it will certainly be very boring around here. Thanks, honestly, for sharing this one.
