philip gleeson 0 Posted June 9, 2006 I like this photo - i like your folio even more! My only thought on this is the lack of movement, this man could be asleep!! maybe he was, if so brilliant! Link to comment

samfoto 0 Posted June 9, 2006 Dusan: There are more than opposing states of being, being concious and not (sleeping), perceptable movement and non-moving. The bulk of vocabulary here is lost if seen only in two opposing states of being...ie an entire cadre of greys. I know that if I rang such a bell for a livng, for maby 30+ years and found myself doing it at age 70-80, my physical limitations would inform how that bell was rung. It is precisely for these reasons I believe this work to be of value, as it truely invite the viewer to empathize with this bell ringer and his state of being. As far as composition go, I also believe it to be the best possible, as the emphasis again is on the man and how he must become more physically concentrated to ring this bell so as to allieviate physical stress. Another supporting aspect of the visual and idea portrayed are the optical ability of the lens to render the rope, tattered clothing and unshaven face with such detail as to be also telling of this mans' experience. Par excellant...sam Link to comment
