bosshogg 4 Posted June 12, 2006 In this day and age of PhotoShop, this would be an easy composite, but this is the real thing, captured along route 99 in Delano, California. I don't know if some wag in the highway department was having fun, or if the poor engineer types just didn't see the irony. The signs are no longer conjoined. Link to comment
dberryhill 3 Posted June 17, 2006 David, this is a classic. I've had it as the wallpaper on my office computer to lighten my work day. It worked. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted June 18, 2006 Actually I worked pretty hard to get this one. I first passed it on a trip when I could not stop and did not have my equipment, but made a note to come back. Several months later I made it back, but this is on a freeway, and you are not supposed to just pull over and park and take pictures. So I had to leave the car 100 yards away, climb a fence, and then a steep embankment to get to the side of the road. Once there, I had to keep an eye out so as to not get killed. Your appreciation makes it all worhwhile. Link to comment
Emmanuel Enyinwa 0 Posted July 7, 2006 Yeah, I love this one, too. Was a time when things like this fascinated me. Unfortunately, here at pnet, it's all about how sharp your lens is, and not how great the idea is. Link to comment
generic american 1 Posted July 24, 2006 Funny shot. I love those kind of signs. Usually I see them in passing and don't have time to get the shot. There is one out near Riverside, CA, where it says "Welcome to" whatever city it is, and directly behind it is the city dump. I always wanted to get the shot, but it would require a ladder to get the angle right. Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted July 22, 2007 Congrats! This reminds me of a neighboring town here which had a rest area next to the cemetery, and the rest area sign was in front of the cemetery, with an arrow pointing to the cemetery...darn, why didn't I ever get a photo?? A couple years ago they moved the sign closer to the rest area. Link to comment
