alexkropp 0 Posted March 8, 2006 Very nice. Like the composition and pose of the bird. The eye stands out nicely. The background is a bit grainy, and could probably be blurred (or not sharpened), which would improve this image IMHO. Thanks for sharing. Alex Link to comment

pnital 36 Posted March 8, 2006 Interesting pose Donna, interesting bird as well. I wonder if its colors are saturated a bit or these are its natural colors? what kind is it? its face are unusual.very nice, Pnina Link to comment
donnaalbers 0 Posted March 8, 2006 Thanks everyone for your comments. . Pnina, the colors are real and not oversaturated. . these roseate spoonbills migrate to the coast of Texas at this time of the year to breed which accounts for the deep red and yellow colored plumage. . . their beautiful feathers make a sharp contrast to the primitive reptilian like head and large spoonbill which is only visible from the side in this image. Alex, thanks for the comments about the grain. . I'm not sure why it's there . . . I don't know if shooting raw is contributing to it. . . Link to comment
nails 0 Posted March 9, 2006 I'd be hard pressed to pick a favorite from such a rich portfolio, but this is up there. Thank you for the inspiration, Donna. Link to comment

donnaalbers 0 Posted March 11, 2006 Thanks again everyone for your kind comments. . . Kim, I'm assuming you have spoonbills in Corpus. . . I've haven't had any luck in Galveston but I took this shot at an Audubon sanctuary at High Island. . . Christopher. . . this crop was about a third of the image. . maybe I'm expecting too much from this enlargement. . Becky and Sarah. . . thanks for visiting. . . they certainly have a lot of feathers. . . at one time they were used for ladie's hats. . needless to say, the birds were hunted almost to extinction for that reason. . . ljk 0 Posted March 13, 2006 Was this a balancing act for the bird or you? Because that's what you've achieved...balance of color, comp, dof. Really beautiful work. Thanks, too, for stopping by to visit! You would love all of the birds down here! Link to comment
cherlyn 1 Posted March 14, 2006 Is it doing some acrobatic act? Superb pose & you have caught it right on time. Link to comment
