It was a rainy day and there was danger of rockfall on the normal

trail along the river. Therefore we decided to take the upper trail,

all up from the river and then down again. This photo was taken from

the highest point and shows the big descent to the Tilicho refuge.

Thank you Janga and Ram Bahadur for waiting patiently in the frosty

drizzle for the opening of the mist curtain. Karl

Thanks Jeanne and J for your feedback. Jeanne, actually I am not sure. J, The XPan is out of good steel, but it is not a monster and I have porters with me at least for the tripod ;o). The camera I carry myself to be ready if Arwen appears. Karl

good point of view. the human element really exploits the rugged landscape.

Karl, awesome photo! I really want to be there! By the way, J, the Xpan is a rangefinder. I still think Karl worked pretty hard to reach that vantage point, though. Great work!

Karl,

I was there last year and couldn't get any images that really captured this dramatic section of the trail. To those looking at this, the trail here is on a REALLY steep slope, and Karl you nailed the sweeping sucking feeling you get walking over the void here. Fantastic image and definitely the best I've seen from the Tilicho trail! All of you images from the Himalaya are inspiring. Great work.

Very impressive as the others. This one take benefit very well from panorama proportions. Congratulations.

Hi Karl, to be honest those backpackers distract me from conteplation of serene beauty of the scene, anyway it's great shot, real fantasy! CF
