treaclechops 0 Posted January 10, 2005 This a simply gorgeous picture to have in the family album; it can be cherished by so many through the years. A beautiful study of a very distinguished gentleman, and very well exposed and printed. I might have just cropped out a little of the blank space to the top and left, but otherwise I think it's spot on. Your mum must be pleased. :O) Rebecca Link to comment
drache 0 Posted January 11, 2005 Rebecca, this was my christmas-present for my mum! Printed on Maco expo G3, a fine map and a frame made of wood. Tears were running... Link to comment
treaclechops 0 Posted January 11, 2005 Hi Steffan, Yes, I can well believe tears were running. A good, meaningful, family picture is so precious. A similar thing happened when I gave my best friend as a 40th birthday present a picture of her and her mother together. At the time, I was just fooling around with a (new to me), Minolta SLR (vintage 1972) with 50mm lens, and snapped them taking afternoon tea and cake together; but it is a priceless and deeply personal shot. That is one of things I love most about photography - it's the gift that keeps on giving! :o) Rebecca Link to comment
drache 0 Posted January 12, 2005 Yes, you are completely right. Such gifts are priceless and it ist also for me the very best moment, if a person is happy about my pictures. I had a similar experience like you, as I took a picture of my former neighbor and his mother, after he won a very important american-football-game with his team. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted December 30, 2005 For me, this one (and the other of your grandfather) has almost an August Sander type of feel and look to it. This is an excellent portrait. Link to comment
