The powerful tight crop brings attention to the impressive clarity of this image. Excellent work, TmJ.

Thanks Scott Edwardson! I had no time to think and just shoot with my setting at the time (which I used 9 points lately). Then, I switch to 5 poiints (the cross). Note that I was shooting through a fence and the clarity and focus is not optimal since the focusing system keeps bouncing between the bird and the fence. It turns out ok. For many years, I shoot with one center point but as I get older (and slower), I change to 5 points (the cross) and lately I shoot with 9 points focus quite a bit. I don't trust anymore focus setting than 9 points, btw. The more focus points you use, the slower the focus because you are taxing the focusing software algorithm and also you are leaving it to the software to decide and while that would be great with the new R5 ( eye tracking), it's not reliable with old camera like mine.

Thanks Wayne Sadler! Good to hear from you! I think I said it before that some Wildlife Artist told me backlighting is the best and while it's hard to get good images with backlight, when the condition is right then it's much better than front lighted. It gives much more dramatic lighting and 3D perception, I think.
