donev1 701 Posted January 12, 2021 Thank you, Larry. Yes, I agree with you. I overexposed this photo on purpose – it was dark, but may be too much. The snow is overexposed. Link to comment
larry_korhank 0 Posted January 12, 2021 Looking at your photos, I’m pretty sure you already know this, but generally it’s better to underexpose (in digital). It’s easier to bring out the shadows than fix overexposed highlights. I use a 3 tier approach. First I tweak the exposure and shadows in Raw. Then adjust the overall levels in Photoshop, but don’t overdo it. Then the real work begins by selecting the areas of interest with a generous “feather” and re-adjusting the levels. I’ve kind of been out of photography for the last 10 years, so there are probably newer and better methods now. However, since you overexposed on purpose, you probably got the image you wanted. donev1 701 Posted January 13, 2021 Thank you again, Larry. Yes, I know that is better to underexpose. In this case I was absent minded. The problem here was – I am using Sony A7R 2 with Canon mount lens (adapter). So, I should have been more careful. Thank you for the Photoshop recipe – very interesting. Best regards. Evgeni. Wayne Sadler 570 Posted January 14, 2021 So well composed and the exposure feels to perfectly hint the colors of this scene. Bravo, Evgeni. Link to comment
