This elegant bird, the Australian king parrot (Alisterus scapularis) is endemic to eastern Australia in humid and heavily forested upland regions including eucalyptus wooded areas. They feed on fruits and seeds gathered from trees or on the ground. The photo shows a male bird.

It is only to be hoped that the areas where these wonderful birds live did not go up in flames in the recent fires in Australia, ciao Giangiorgio
