Jack McRitchie 150 Posted August 19, 2019 This is a mat at the entrance way of a temple in Nara, Japan. I think of it as the many faces of God. Link to comment
tai 3 Posted August 19, 2019 I'm glad you are back, Jack, nice to see your pictures! Marvelous mosaic. This mat carefully stores small pebbles, fallen leaves ... and stories about all the feet that stepped on it. Ancient memory device. Bravo! Sincerely, Tatiana Link to comment

vincentoiseau 83 Posted August 19, 2019 Hi jack, so glad to see you here again! The theme you present here (per your accompanying comment), although rather sober in appearance, is very appealing and, more importantly, really connectable to the visual presentation. There's a multitude of forms, fitting into the mold of entering a sacred place. Kind regards, Vincent Link to comment
Wayne Melia 6,031 Posted August 19, 2019 Fascinating study that few would see. But we can count on you. Thanks. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted August 21, 2019 Very interesting looking pattern it makes. Looks almost like an alternative form of Kalaha, where you use dead leaves, pepples and dirt in stead. Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted August 21, 2019 Tatiana, Laurent, Vincent, Wayne, Pierre, B. Bernardo, Saad, Phillip - Thanks you for your interesting comments. I've been absent the last couple of months and it's nice to find out that there's still a core of people here who take the time to comment. Much appreciated. Link to comment
michaellinder 16,612 Posted August 22, 2019 He's baaack! Glad to see ya. Your new work begins with a bang in the form of this image. I won't overstate the obvious, but nonetheless I easily can envision monks in a Zen monastery using it, or something like it, to aid them in the quest for Satori. The forms the mat contains, along with the hints of nature, promote beauty, both visually and spiritually. Favorite for sure. Link to comment
