Jack McRitchie 150 Posted February 2, 2019 I like that you didn't try to make this more than it is. In this photo the repetition of shapes and the sense of space carries the picture quite naturally. Sometimes I tend to fool around too much with a photo and the picture loses its sense of the moment, the spontaneous recognition of composition, shape, color, etc that led me to pull the trigger in the first place. This is something I constantly wrestle with and perhaps the reason I find photos in resort galleries so uninteresting despite their refinement and obvious beauty. They feel like all the rawness and authenticity has been wrung out of them but from a commercial point of view, it's what most people who can afford to buy such things admire and are happy with. It is Art with a capital, gilded "A" Link to comment
michaellinder 16,611 Posted February 3, 2019 Jack, I'm honored that you commented on this image using the term "art". I do realize that the context of the comment was to note that I "didn't try to make this more than it is." Nonetheless, I am gratified and motivated. Link to comment
setsail728 15 Posted February 3, 2019 The perspective and the geometric order in this photo are captured beautifully in this shot. Blind to anyone who just might be standing there but there for all to see in the photo! Terrific! Link to comment
Jack_Maegli 0 Posted February 6, 2019 I am not going to get too wordy here; but the components that make this attractive to me are: #1 strong foreground detail #2 powerful diagonal flow #3 a gritty grain #4 nice use of golden triangle/ rule of thirds Link to comment
