Here goes try #2 to get my comments to stick. This photograph consists of at least two curious, strange elements, which combine to leave me scratching my head. First there is a door that appears opaque on both sides, dividing two regions of space. What exists in one region is visible; one has to guess about the other. Secondly, the flowers - by appearance and nature - are interfering with the otherwise orderly geometric features. Another visual koan by Zen Master McRitchie.

Michael - Thanks for the comment. I don't know if you have ever heard of the Winchester Mystery House. It was built by a woman who was heir to the Winchester firearm fortune. A medium once told her that as long as she was building her mansion, she would not die and she took the prophecy literally. She added doors that opened on to blank walls and staircases that led nowhere. I believe it's still an odd but popular attraction today. This photo has some of that same notion. Even if the owner were to lock this door, any intruder could simply walk around it. I thought more people would pick up on that oddity but some of my visual jokes may be just too Far Side even for me. (I'm a great fan of Gary Larson's work.)
