michaellinder 16,611 Posted December 21, 2018 A very strong image deserving the POTD. Aside from the father- child story that can be gleamed from it, the silhouetting is powerful. I love how even the kite lines are silhouetted. Bravo, Frank! - - My best, michael Link to comment

Jack McRitchie 150 Posted December 21, 2018 The classic story-telling silhouette. Beautifully realized, Franz. Link to comment

FranzWeber 368 Posted December 22, 2018 Michael, in my profile they changed the number of POTD's from 5 to 6. But there are only shown 5. Link to comment
jennifercatron 9 Posted December 22, 2018 Silhouette's can be hard to do, but the rule of thumb is to have your image show the outline of all the bodies in the image. You have a little rim light on the girls head, but Im still wanting to see the two people more defined and in their own space. You also have a lot of dead space in the foreground, which cuts the image almost exactly in half. Link to comment
FranzWeber 368 Posted December 22, 2018 Jenny, here you can see what "exactly in half" is: https://www.photo.net/351807#//Sort-Newest/All-Categories/All-Time/Page-1 Link to comment
jennifercatron 9 Posted December 22, 2018 the point I was trying to make is that there was a lot of dead space in the foreground, and that it would be nice to see the outlines of both parties separately. I think I might be critiquing an image you didn't want critiqued. In the old Photo.net we had an area where you click on photographs that their owners had asked to be critiqued from the response of those I have critiqued, maybe I am in the wrong spot. For those of us who have been with photo.net since it started, ( Ive been absent for a while) it is etiquette to give a detailed critique of images submitted for review, and not just say what we liked about it. Sorry if I misunderstood your desires for a critique. Link to comment
FranzWeber 368 Posted December 22, 2018 Jennifer you said ", which cuts the image almost exactly in half" . I think you need glasses. Link to comment
