A disciple asked the Zen Roshi is the statue in the hall alive. The Roshi responded, “Yes”. “Then why doesn’t it cry out when I strike it with this hammer”, the disciple asked. The Roshi responded, “It does”. “Then why can’t I hear it”, the disciple asked. The Roshi responded, “Cause you are stupid and unenlightened”.

Good one, Wayne and an excellent candidate for your "painting" effect. The two main figures read very well, the women in brilliant sunshine and the statue in silhouette seen through the portal of the building. They key the composition and play off each other nicely.
