michaellinder 16,611 Posted October 24, 2017 Ken, first and foremost, congratulations on a well deserved POTD. As a devotee of the use of selective color, I am most impressed by the dramatic mix of color - browns, oranges, and blue/green - and grayscale tones. The image is expertly composed, and the subject-matter is quite interesting. - - michael Link to comment

DGorinstein 20 Posted October 24, 2017 Hello Jack: As usual, I find no better company to a quiet evening, a balmy night, enjoying a dram and admiring your work. Quite a twist to your usual work, I find this image utterly compelling and expressive. Leaving all the technical marvelous details that might be redundant for a seasoned photographer, the bright colors, the saturation, et. al. this wonderful image tells a story....where has this boat been? What rough seas and calm seas might have it encountered? The fishermen are all there, in spirit....yet this treasure is going nowhere, Tied as much as possible, thick and thin ropes bounding it like a faithful dog, awaiting its masters to take it sailing once more. Composition wise, it is truly a learning experience. The reflection on the water, and the exquisite texture of the blue ripples in the background.... As said, I am thoroughly enjoying looking at it for a a long while, sipping a good slow whiskey, appreciating the work of a master. Soooooo good to see you back. Something to look forward to in PN. Furthermore, by now, you must know how much more is written between these lines. So my friend, see you soon.....Oh I long for it so much so. Warmest regards and best wishes. DG Link to comment
