That collection of grays really makes the little patch of apricot sing, and the little patch of apricot provides the power that makes the whole composition work--this is beautifully put together. You're able to find the most satisfying compositional balance in the most unlikely subjects. I'm also thoroughly enjoying the textures and lines in their own right.

There's a creature trying to work up the courage to come out from its hiding place. Jack, I see that you timed capturing its journey perfectly. - - OK, so if the interpretive stuff doesn't work . . . The image mesmerized me by means of the rather interesting geometry it contains. If not for the textural variety, everything would be linear. Linearity is ok, but it's far more captivating when mixed with nonlinear stuff. - - michael

In one word, tantalizing. If someone wanted to portray the feeling of tantalization without all the frills and drama, may be this is how it would be. The tip of the beam provides enough stimulation to go explore, while the darkness behind it serves a warning. A perfect representation of human curiosity and adventure.

Hi Gail. The swallows are straggling back to Capistrano, it seems (I'm one such battered bird, myself). I'll be over to see your latest work as soon as I can.
