Thanks Donna. He was rowing our Boat with lots of stories about the heavy winds and the dangers in the Lake. Tried capturing his mood and the sorroundings.

In my opinion, this picture cries out for a title. Where and who is it? As far as it goes the shot is fine, but it is not powerful enough to survive in isolation without a title. Even "Rowing on Lake x, Nepal" would be OK. This kind of shot will work much better in a series.

To me, Ravishankar did an excellent job capturing the activity within this image. Each of the rowers displays it differently; the young man in the foreground seems to be intent on reaching his destination, while the head of the other rower is down to gain some additional strength in his next stroke. The motion blur reinforces all of this. I find this image to be quite strong, regardless of the absence of a title. Robin, did you look at Ravishankar's portfolio to determine whether it's part of a series?

This picture has so much going for it: it is a portrait and a landscape, it is dynamic and passive, it is relaxed and laboured, it is recreational and occupational, it is human and machine, and machine and nature. It is neither staged nor entirely candid, nor upstaged by a ludicrous blue sky or a photographer's obsession with any particular part of the scene. And then, in the centre of it all, is that wonderful expression on the boy's face. I'm sure it's a hard life really, but for that one moment in time which you have captured so well, I so wish I was that boy in that place.

Easily the best photo of the week in a long, long time.

Thank you Michael. It is a true artist who beholds vivid imagination without titles and you did it. I am glad you could relate to the momment and mood besides my intentions. Appreciate your comment.

Dear Dale,

This is by far the best ever compliment I have got and thank you so very much. I was so immersed watching this boy during our short journey and finally raised my camera with all emotions to capture this momment. I am glad all you good viewers are part of my journey and feelings. Thank you once again.

Warm Regards,

Ravishankar

I like the corresponding soft blur of both the foreground and background paddler. The blur imparts a sense of motion to the image. The heavy sky helps to keep my eye on the water and adds mood. I like that the colours are natural and not ramped up, as is too often the case with travel and landscape photos. The composition is strong with a good foreground , mid-ground and a wide background to give us a sense of place.

I do wish that the canopy rigging was not so prominent on the right side of the foreground boat. I'd be tempted tp crop or clone it out. The tourists with their life jackets distract somewhat from the exotic feel however one does not always get to choose everything in the frame and overall this is a nice capture of what must haver been a lovely day on the water.

Thanks Gorgon. It was indeed a memorable momment. Yes I could have done a few things post including blurring the background but was tempted to keep it as shot as I try with most of my images ever since I migrated to the Fuji System and way back from my Velvia and Provia days. There is magic in the Fuji JPEG colors straight out of camera not allowing me even to open the parallel RAW images I so faithfully shoot.

Appreciate your sincere feedback. Cheers, Ravishankar
