Wayne Sadler 591 Posted January 8, 2017 Although it was the 39% sign that caught my attention in this long standing worn strip of shops in the Inglewood/Madison area of Nashville, it was the contrast that made it a subject for art. But I am still wondering about the sign: 39% women/men. Comments and critique are much appreciated. Link to comment
Wayne Sadler 591 Posted January 8, 2017 I think the sign actually says: 39% men/women Link to comment
Tony Brandstetter 814 Posted January 8, 2017 I like the painterly effect, I have tried it on a couple of my images but it's not always about me Wayne - We can image the most common scene and with this effect just heightens it to a whole new level. Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted January 8, 2017 A wonderful tour de force with a judiciously applied effect which ties everything into an impressionistic whole. It kind of reminds me of the work of Saul Leiter. The man at the lower right crucially balances the relative brightness of the left side of the image. This doesn't work without his presence It's an excellent picture and deserves a place in my favorites Link to comment

Wayne Sadler 591 Posted January 9, 2017 Tony,Many thanks. I happened to be in my "painter mind" when I grabbed this scene while driving. I was more interested in the areas of light and dark than what the scene was. In a way it had started as a painting. Link to comment
Wayne Sadler 591 Posted January 9, 2017 Jack,Many thanks. I was surprised at how much was already balanced (elements, light and dark) when I saw this scene. The painterly effect was necessary because of the abundance of detail. Link to comment
bruckner 530 Posted January 9, 2017 Well seen and presented, the post processing works good with this scene. Link to comment
