I was at a church retreat today and the weather was like this all day. I slipped away for a few minutes to capture some images of this church. It is actually on an island and a  small bridge is on the right and out of the photo. The interior was spartan consisting of some benches, a piano, simple Altar and  a single large cross (6 feet high) leaning from the floor to the wall. There is no stained glass but of critical importance to me was the fact that there was no source of heating in this place. The piano was functional as a young black man who is completely blind sat on the bench and gave us a terrific version of Amazing Grace.  It is interesting that he chose that piece since the words go like this"

Amazing grace, how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now am found
Was blind, but now I see

I too can play the piano but gave thanks for the fact that I can see.

Saint-Adolphe-d'Howard is a municipality in the Laurentian Mountains, in the Province of Quebec, Canada, north-west of Montreal and have a population of about 4000 persons..

I don't have many favourites in my folder, but this is just exquisite and is destined to go there!

Excellent!

Not sure what to say - hopefully a simple "thanks" will suffice. I must have shot about 18 images of this church but I was fairly sure that this one was the one to share. I did like a landscape version but shooting at f5.6 left the image a tad soft at the edges.

On a peaceful location a small church, simple as you say,but that gives a feeling of something closer to soul.I like how you composed this, reflection makes this more attractive.

Outstanding image Tony. The contrast of the bright church colors among all the earth tones is eye catching but it's the peaceful setting and slight reflection I like as well.

Ahhh, perfect.  I want to say "thank you" to you for not juicing it up, just leaving it natural.  Beautiful... Mike

Gorgeous. And I completely agree w/ the last post that keeping the color rendering natural keeps the beauty intact. Fantastic image & the story adds context & depth.
