Here is a lightened version of the previous image. The original looked more like this on

my screen, but appeared darkened after uploading to P-Net. Please let me know if you

like this one any better than the first. Your comments are always sincerely appreciated.

I love it, David! It really pops. And it's interesting how the change makes the contrast in tone between the sandstones and shales show up so clearly. Beautiful image! (and I know what you mean about the monitor--I keep tripping over that, too; I've had to modify and re-upload a number of images because they show up so differently)

The light and tonal range do appear to be better in this version!

Amazing rock formations!

Best Regards

does not quite work for me. I've looked carefully and it seems rather unbalanced (not always a bad thing). The block of rock on the RHS destroys the horizontal sweep of the strata and can definitely be lost and the blank sky needs some cloud as it is flat. Maybe it was not the best time of day to take this as the shadows are harsh. If I was taking a shot here I would ask myself what am I going for? Is it a record of the place? is it the strata? Is it the crazy shadows? Photographing on Mars can be problematic.

Cheers,

Patrick
