The location is the same as the last posting on holiday in

Northumberland This was a bit of a processing experiment,

combining pencil sketch filter with B & W and then using the eraser

tool to make it a little less harsh looking. Your thoughts and

comments are always appreciated ....Thank You.

I like the processing Alf as well as the juxtaposition of the four boats in relation to the misty shoreline in the background!

Alf...

I like this a lot.  Looks like a cold foggy morning.  The boats are positioned perfectly and I like your post-processing.  Very well done.

Alf, I would say your choice of processing was most successful. It does indeed have a ghost like effect. The slight mountain ridge at the right gives the image some balance and grounds it as well. The large view allows us some details and to see if there are any ghosts aboard ;-) Beautifully done, once again my friend.

Best Always, Holger

A most appropriately titled image . . . However, even without any title at all, the image stands as it is, on its own merits.  The techniques you used involved the use of high key, which yielded the creation of a ghostlike world.  If ever there was a visual tool to create a peaceful mood on the part on a viewer, this is it.  To me, one of the most effective elements is the hint of black tones, which preserves a small bit of contrast within the frame.

My best always,

michael

Wonderful effect.  Keep experimenting - this one worked so well!  It's a great composition to start with and you made it even better.

Lovely shot, Alf. The boats feel insubstantial, almost a mirage, sketched in tones so light that everything will surely vanish as the sun burns off the morning mist.

Alf,  It is a well composed great shot that has some sort of atmosphere, creating a bit of mystery.  Strangely, all the boats are scared and fear something beyond the mist... Suspense!

Hi Alf, this has such a delicate touch and so beautifully handled. A very artistic presentation which creates mood and atmosphere and I would love this hanging on my wall! Best wishes. Sarah.

Many Thanks Robert, it's good to know that the processing worked, one is never really sure until we get such positive feedback!

Not quite a cold foggy morning, but more of a warm misty evening : - )  But I guess the processing worked it's magic on you :)

Sincere Thanks Bill!

Thank you for your considerate review, much appreciated!

I don't normally spend too much time on processing, but I did with this one. I kind of knew the look I wanted, but it took a bit of trial and error before I finally managed to get it somewhere close.

Sincere Thanks & Best Regards my friend!

Sometimes I wonder if I cloud peoples judgement or opinion by giving my images titles, but my reason for doing so is simple, I can remember titles, they will relate to something I have seen, whereas numbers don't mean much at all, and I'd never find anything if I filed them like that :)

I have done another version of this where I have shrouded the boats in a layer of mist. I like the results too, maybe I should put it on here to get an idea of preferences.

Sincere Thanks for your ever thoughtful analysis Michael.

I couldn't agree more, it is always the end result that matters, I'm just thankful that this one worked out as planned....eventually : )

Thank you so much for your positive feedback. I don't usually get much time and generally keep my processing to a minimum, but given the time....I could play for hours : )

I like your description! I have just finished another version of this where the boats are covered in a layer of mist making them appear even more ghost like....maybe I should post it too.

In spite of the extensive processing this retains a wonderfully simple and clean reality.  Stretching the old brain cells worked perfectly ;-)... Mike
