December 2015 - A bird stopped to rest from the snowstorm in the Butterfly Maple

outside my (dirty) living room window. This image is heavily cropped from the original.

Your thoughts on my treatment of this very transitory subject are always appreciated.

Hi David, An interesting image, the bird looks like a pine cone and seems camouflaged to me. Naturally inconspicuous. Fine catch. Welcome back.

Best Regards, Holger

The puffed out feathers for insulation give a clue as to the cold, but maybe some cooler tones too?

You have captured some great detail from a shot through another layer of glass!

Best Regards

I'm very amused by the accuracy of Holger's comment about this bird hiding out as a pine cone and, like Alf, I'm impressed with the quality and detail shot through glass.  A good shot (and it's nice to see you posting)... Mike

Holger, definitely this little fellow needs camouflage to survive. Thanks for your feedback. It's nice to re-engage, if at a slower pace.

Alf, two layers of glass, actually. I'll play with the tones a bit. There's a lot of red in the scene naturally, despite the snowstorm. Thank you, as always, for your time and interest.

Mike, I'm gratified you like what was a very un-planned and poorly prepared shot. I went from interior Christmas morning photos to a quick shot out the window, without any warning. Thanks for your kind words and encouragement.
