Lannie, I used to buy my Road Bikes the same way.  Top of the line, but a few years out of date.  By my standards, more capability than I would ever need or take to the Max.  This was once a top of the line lens and a whole lot more money than I could afford, still superb but now "obsolete" and affordable! That's what I like about Nikon, the lens and camera compatibility is excellent!
