These 2 old boat houses sit on the shoreline of Lyn Dinas in North

Wales and I have photographed them many times. This time I

thought I'd try something different. Processed in " Nik Silver Efex

Pro 2" ......Your thoughts and comments are always appreciated.

Thank You!

There is something nostalgic about this image Alf that I really like. Beautiful soft light, gorgeous reflection with a hint of movement, nice detail in the trees and as usual your composition is perfect! Great work my friend!

Alf, I like the effect it harkens back to another time and its effect on the reflection and surrounding foliage works within that like a frame or vignette. The two, old, almost collapsing boat houses are great, what a scene. I think you could have taken this in more than one direction and still had success. This is somewhat a little different from you but still excellent work.

Best Always, Holger

Looks like antique IR (is there such a thing).  A different offering from you; nice to see you shaking the cobwebs out of the imagination ;-).  Beautifully detailed and the composition is, of course, spot on... Mike

I wholeheartedly agree that this image represents you going off the beaten track.  You definitely invoked many of your magic powers to create this one.  First and foremost, the selective color works wonders; it's as if Tinker Bell has sprinkled her dust on this scene.  Obviously you used control points in Silver Efex, much to your advantage, to create areas of sharp detail, which seem to gradually blend with areas in which the detail is quite soft.   Coupled with the somewhat desaturated areas of gold, this creates an atmosphere of tranquility and otherworldliness.

I tip my hat to you, Sir.

It kind of reminds me of an old postcard, just the result of a bit of experimentation in "Nik Siver efex"

Sincere Thanks!

I agree, it does have that 50's postcard look about it. I have taken photo's of these boathouses before but never tried this kind of thing.  Thanks you so much for your positive comments!

Thank you so much. I was right across the other side of the lake and zoomed in at 360 mm to get closer to the boathouses.  The processing was a lucky experiment!  : - )

"Vintage!"  Usually the exclamation when they look at me not my photographs

I don't know if there is such a thing as antique IR .....maybe I've started a trend : - )

I can't take too much credit for this though I was "playing" with Nik silver efex software and this little number was a pre-set effect, I just added the vintage tone.

Many Thanks Mike!

As a photographer with such diverse tastes and such a varied portfolio as yourself, you will appreciate the urge to experiment and do things a bit differently now and again.  As I  mentioned to Mike above, I cannot take too much credit for this image, it was merely the result of play time with Nik Silver Efex (A wonderful suite of B & W software that is now free to download, as is all the NIK software) It did kind of strike me as being effective though and it's really most gratifying to read your comments.

Sincere Thanks & Best Regards

I agree with the other comments (i.e. vintage and different from your usual reference).  Also agree that it is very effective pp.

My favorite part is the significant difference between the two structures even though they were probably built at the same time.  My eye keeps returning to the one on the right.  Probably has to due with reminding me of my own "vintage" which is rapidly advancing.

Very well done and TFS.

Cheers...

Many Thanks for your thoughts and positive feedback!

I think we are all crumbling with age, but as the image shows, some more than others : - )

I can't put into words very well what it was that gripped me about this image, but I can best describe it as an old postcard.

Cheers Jerry!
