biskamp 1 Posted June 17, 2016 personally I do not smoke, nevertheless a cigarette may produce very interesting smoke strucures (in reality these are the structures of the rising hot air, the smoke particles are simply tracers) Link to comment
Supriyo 6,008 Posted June 18, 2016 Gulps of smoke rising in the air, resembling the x-ray of a human ribcage. An intricately crafted smoke column, if one might say...an intangible art-form, about to vanish forever. You gave it immortality in your image. Link to comment
biskamp 1 Posted June 18, 2016 Thanks for your comment. I just notice that I chose the wrong kategory, instead of sports it should have been stills/studio. But no way to change this except withdraw the photo Link to comment
biskamp 1 Posted June 18, 2016 I do not quite understand the negative reaction. Maybe it is too complicated to see what is going on in this photo. I had many attempts with a burning cigarette, whose smoke serves to visualize the hydrodynamic patterns and structures of a column of heated air rising, becoming Kelvin-Helmholtz unstable, and finally disintegrating into fully developed turbulence, and I find that this picture demonstrates these processes pretty well. Ok, a photo exposed here should not serve as a classroom demonstration in physics Link to comment
Supriyo 6,008 Posted June 20, 2016 Dieter,I also don't agree with the average ratings. It would be great to hear from the raters about their rationale for this image. All I can say is, to me it is an interesting, creative abstract, made out of thin air, literally. Excellent control of light and subject matter on your end, that depicts the progression from light to heavy turbulence quite artistically. Link to comment
