beau 1664876222 1 Posted October 14, 2003 As anybody who's familiar with my work knows, I take a lot of pictures of the ground. I'm creating a whole series called "downcasting" that consists of these kinds of images. This one is a lot more subtle and abstract than most, so I figure the ratings won't be great. If you look for more than 1/4 second, though, you'll see the image has some things going on. Thanks for any ratings/comments. Link to comment
elaine_roberts1 0 Posted October 14, 2003 Intriguing composition. I love urban abstracts like this, partly because I have trouble making them myself. This is interesting. Link to comment
jon w. 0 Posted October 15, 2003 It is interesting, Beau - good light and textures - but not I think as strong as some of the others in the sequence, i.e. maybe strong enough to be shown next to them, but not strong enough to stand by itself. Link to comment
RobertChura 0 Posted October 24, 2003 I really admire the fact you can turn the mundane into something spectacular. Link to comment
jon w. 0 Posted December 1, 2003 Actually, this improves on second viewing, and as one thinks about how you must have been holding the camera in order to make it. In other words, it's a good example of why the Lenswork mantra, 'A good photograph is one that makes the viewer so aware of the subject that they are unaware of the print' is patently wrong. Good photographs always insome way thematize their own construction. The trick is not to do it in a vulgar way (using extreme wide-angles, etc.). Link to comment
