A week of wet and windy weather with scarce opportunities to get the camera out, but

this was one of them. The series of waterfalls are known locally as "The Fairy Pools"

I hope to get back there one day! Your thoughts and comments are always

appreciated! Thank You.

What a wonderful picture. The blue of the waterfall seem super-real and dominates the picture. The slight vignette amplifies this feeling. Quite a special, place that feels almost mythical. I can certainly understand why this is called The Fairy Pools.

Gorgeous Alf I echo Jacks' comment. The slight blur to the water and the dark mountain background make the foreground that much better. When it comes to landscapes I look to you. Beautiful work.

Best Always, Holger

Every time you post a photograph, I sit and stir at it for a long time....This is no exception. Seeing through your eyes....and I like what you relate to us. Thank you for being able to magnetize me with your work !.

Congratulations, my friend, exceptional work!

It's like an earthen oasis on another planet.  The distant mountains are stark and ominous, while the waterfall is soft, flowing and inviting.  Fairy Pools indeed.  As always, excellent... Mike

In the past I would write so much on your images but these days it is difficult. I will stick with a duo syllabic response: "Superb"

It is so easy to oversaturate images like this. I have done it myself many times. But you did not! This is perfect.

I used to spend hours taking shots similar to this . I was a lot younger then though and the location was the Dark Peak . Exellent again Alf' ! Bill

Agree David that with you we can see this splendid locations and the feeling of untouched nature is so well seen.Splendid waterfall with magic color and softness, contrast with sharp, clear grass make it more evident.

Alf, joy pops off the page and dancing in this photograph.  The focal point waterfalls playfully skip from rock to rock on the way down, and this reminds me of a waterfalls in the desert oasis where we sat on one of the rocks, and water pounded our backs therapeutically.  The colors are splendid.  The composition including so many natural elements moving in different directions, of different elements and textures.  It is vibrant and magnificent.

Many Thanks for your thoughts and comments.  The place is so remote it is scarcely believable it attracts so many visitors, but I guess like me it's the amazing scenery that draws them to it. You are right this is indeed a special place!

Thank you so much!  It's always an interesting exercise matching the shutter speed to the flow of the water, I think here it was just 1 second.  It can be quite a bland landscape colour wise, so I added slightly more saturation in this one than I normally would.

It is a great compliment that you pay me, and I really appreciate your attention!

I can empathise with your well thought out analogy. It really is like a dark volcanic lump of rock with rough strewn valleys lined with sparse vegetation, but retains a beauty all of it's own!

Sincere Thanks

Many Thanks for your thoughts and kind words. It should be remembered that taking your advice was all part of my learning curve : - )

I agree, it is easily done!  I have used probably a little more saturation than I normally would, but then the RAW file looked quite bland in comparison.

Sincere Thanks

Even during the bleakest of weather these remote Scottish locations somehow still manage o look beautiful!

Many Thanks

BILL  (William)

It's getting ever more difficult to make it to these remote locations and timing it to coincide with decent weather is almost impossible! Maybe that's what makes it so attractive : - )

Many Thanks Bill

Many thanks for your thoughts and observations. The remote regions of Skye means that it does remain unspoiled, although even on a windy, wet day there were quite a few visitors.

Words like "joy" and "dancing" bring to mind the tiny mythical creatures after which this special place is named. The desert oasis you describe sounds like another magical experience and I'm so glad you could relate to the photograph in this way!

Thank you so much for your feedback and kind words!

There isn't much that hasn't already been said.  I'll try not to repeat any previous comments.

Water flowing over a precipice into a gentle pool below has transformational properties.  It has the power to move sediment and rock; better still, it has the potential of turning mere viewers into dreamers.  I easily can envision Gandolf the wizard standing in a place where the flowing water turns into bubbles and fine mist, uttering an incantation about nature's incredible beauty and majesty. Your amazing work says all of this and more.

My best always,

michael

It is most gratifying to read that the magic I encountered at this location  has been wholly communicated to you through this image!

No photographer could ask for more!

Always a visual treat to view your work Alf.  You find the most amazing locations and I know the lengths you will go to in order to find such beautiful places and obtain a capture.  So much terrain to see in this image. Such a beautiful view from HERE.

best always, Gail

Good to hear from you! I hope you are keeping well. I know we have a lot to catch up on so I will email you soon.

Thank you so much for your interest and kind words. This one was taken on the Isle of Skye in Scotland.  A rare opportunity in a week of the most horrendous weather : - )

Sincere Thanks for your thoughtful comments, much appreciated!

It was taken during the winter, but  it was mostly raining and sadly no snow. But I do intend to return there one day and hopefully when I do there will be snow : - )

You must get tired reading all of the great comments that you deservedly receive.  So rather than repeat that which has been said - I am giving you my highest honor (i.e. going in my favorites folder).

Thanks for sharing, Alf.

Cheers...
