cegeiss 6 Posted March 28, 2016 Dieter, obviously great timing, and I love the colors. I also found the composition intriguing. Loved it enough to click on it as soon as I got onto pnet's site. I also like that the tree branches clear the horizon. The longer I look at it, however, I wished the image was wider and maybe a bit less symmetric. I suggest giving the trees more space. I'd also break the symmetry a bit more, adding more space to the right, giving the biker some more space to ride into. The strong horizontals suggest a wide expansive landscape, but the two trees kind of box it in again. So there seem to be two elements working against each other. I would have suggested to let the cyclist clear the tree a bit more, but that would have brought his head above the horizon ... so I better stop righthere before I come up with some more silly suggestions.Christoph Link to comment
BelaMolnar 2 Posted March 29, 2016 I'm hardly ever commenting for sunset images, but, this is an exception. Nicely balanced composition and with a good content. I'm glad, you didn't make it a screaming, over saturated sunset, out of this image like so many. Link to comment
DavidTriplett 12,682 Posted March 29, 2016 Dieter; A an image framed within the larger image. I like the layering, and the symmetry does not bother me. The colors and exposure are very nice. I will give this one a "well done". Link to comment
biskamp 1 Posted March 29, 2016 Thanks for your comments.Christoph, you are right, a bit more space is a good idea. I shall attach a corresponding version Link to comment
massimo_alberto_bonelli 0 Posted March 29, 2016 Being in the right place at the right moment is not enough. You need to be able to catch the moment. Great work Dieter! Best regards. MAx Link to comment

erikadams 0 Posted March 31, 2016 First of all, a very nice piece of art, Dieter. The bicyclist is the perfect element, and I like that he/she is silhouetted against the hills in the background. A split second later, and the bicyclists head would have moved forward to a point where it is level with the background hills, and it would not have been as good. I like the symmetry of the trees, offset by the asymmetry of the position of the clouds on the left, the sun and the bicyclist. I'm not sure if I like the larger version more. The tighter version is a bit more intimate, and the texture of the trees comes out better. The only thing I would change is to photoshop out what looks like a small jet contrail on the upper right. biskamp 1 Posted April 1, 2016 Thanks for the comments, particularly to you Erik. The little white stripe you are mentioning is an airplane, which I overlooked. Best regards, Dieter Link to comment
