tm_j 30 Posted July 16, 2015 Thanks Greg & Verena! I was using the flash & better beamer (flash extender to double the reach) and got lousy imgages for a couple days. Turns out I had the camera on Auto Apparture Prefered mode and it tries to make adjusment with metering that resulted in dulled images. I should have remember (after my multiple flashes experience with Hummingbird) that one has to shoot in manual mode for both the camera and flash to get good image. Thought I write it out so I can remember next time :-) Link to comment
gregverena 343 Posted July 16, 2015 Thanks for the explanation and back story. We were wondering how close you were in order to be able to use a flash- the settings info might come in handy some day! Link to comment
ann_thao_nguyen 0 Posted July 16, 2015 Nice catch Tmj! I'd like the look with great detail of the Juvi and prey Link to comment
tm_j 30 Posted July 17, 2015 Greg & Verena, I was on the ground shooting up the tree where he perched and I would guess it's probably 25, 30 feet. The regular flash probably would work but with the better beamer it would be more concentrated since the fresnel lens would have extend the flash to 40, 50 + feet . Thanks C. Thao! I was pleasantly supprise of the quality .. after bad shots the previous few days. So, remember ... manual everything when we shoot with the flash and better beamer. :-) Link to comment

tm_j 30 Posted July 19, 2015 Thanks Hanan! I was excited to get this image since I had the camera on Auto Aparture the previous 2 days and even with the flash it was fuzzy due to the camera trying to make adjustment. Putting the camera into manual mode fix that. :-) Link to comment
