Giangiorgio Crisponi 477 Posted April 8, 2015 Sardinian native orchids - ( Ophrys tenthredinifera) In the genus Ophrys, the lip has reached a degree of specialization to simulate, in a stunning, the abdomen of the female corresponding to the insect pollinator which is responsible for pollination. The simulation is so perfect that induce unsuspecting insects to make attempts to pair with the lip (pseudo-copulation). The purpose of these "tricks" or "traps" and to ensure close contact between the flower and the insect by which the pollen-masses (pollinia) pasted on his head can travel up to, and then pollinate, a another flower that at the same time will have prepared astutely another affair . krpradu 125 Posted April 8, 2015 Imagine how complex nature is,just for this flower what incredible adaptation exist and I am wonder each time how(even in millions of years)was possible to get this,we can extend this to all creature round us and in top with human being that start from one cell and what is the final result,amazing almost hard to think.I like all this kind of curiosities,much we know much we admire the creation.sincerely radu Link to comment
