Wayne Sadler 569 Posted March 6, 2015 Some of the dancers at this Festival of Cultures in Nashville seemed to immerse themselves into the dance. Those dancers had a look of satisfaction, pleasure and detachment or abandonment all at the same time. This reminded me of a passage in one of Carlos Castaneda’s books. Don Juan, a sorcerer, was giving the author, Castaneda, advice on the art of “seeing” or “becoming a man of knowledge”. He gave as an example another sorcerer named Sacateca who uses dance as a means of helping him to “see”. When Castaneda asked Don Juan how could dancing help Sacateca to “see”, Don Juan replied, “One can say that Sacateca dances with all he has.” Comments and critique appreciated. Link to comment
hstelljes 41 Posted March 6, 2015 An interesting write up Wayne. Something mysterious and yet sensual about the photo. A fine series of images documenting the dance. BR, Holger Link to comment

lauramarco 0 Posted March 6, 2015 Dear Wayne, I have not read the book you've mentioned, but it seems the message is that "all we are... can be expressed in the form of what we do best". Or perhaps it's a kind of catharsis. Release, let go voluntarily. Her face has a very sensual abandon, almost more than sensual, I would say: "she feels very happy inside."Lovely detail: just lips focused. I really like these portraits in the dance. Good choice of B&W.Congrats, kindest regards, ㋙ Link to comment
