Christal1664882414 0 Posted December 28, 2014 This old-time barber shop appealed to me....I loved the sign above the door! I put this 'Yesteryear' effect on it because I thought it was appropriate. I also liked it in straight B&W. I'd like your thoughts, please! Thanks! Link to comment
Not Here 93 Posted December 28, 2014 Leeching, $.25 haircut, old telephone and hot towels, all support Nostalgia, but "Yelp"? ;-) Sorry, couldn't resist but I love the treatment and your eye in finding this shot... Mike Link to comment
Christal1664882414 0 Posted December 28, 2014 Yeah, maybe I should rename it 'False Advertising' because we all know you can't get a haircut for 25 cents anymore. :-) Thanks, Mike! Hope you all had a good Xmas. Link to comment
Christal1664882414 0 Posted December 28, 2014 Based on Mike's comment above, I'm going to change the title from 'Nostalgia' to 'False Advertising'. Thanks! Link to comment
Not Here 93 Posted December 28, 2014 Oh no, don't change because of me. I think the owner has done an excellent job with his attempt at "Nostalgia" and you've created a vintage postcard. The modern reference was just humor. Thanks, we had a blast... Mike Link to comment
Christal1664882414 0 Posted December 28, 2014 Don't worry....it wasn't only because of your comment. I originally wanted 'False Advertising' but Norm didn't like.....I did. So I just changed it. I'm terrible at coming up with names.....something that you and others (Alf is brilliant at it) are great at. Also, if I didn't offer some explanation, people wouldn't understand your original comment. NOT that many people will even see or comment on it anyway. :-) Link to comment
setsail728 15 Posted December 28, 2014 Ha! I'm old enough to remember when a haircut was under a buck!! Old sign on top, and a Yelp sign on the door. The time...they are achangin". Marvelous photo. I like the sepia cast to it all. Nice work! Link to comment
Christal1664882414 0 Posted December 31, 2014 Hey, thanks! This is in our historic city market downtown.....it's been there a long time. One day it just struck me how cool the door was.....I had seen it a million times before and never given it a thought. Maybe I'm starting to 'see' better....who knows! :-) BTW, thanks for your details about your camera.....helpful!!! Still haven't made a decision, but we're going to the camera shop tomorrow to touch and feel a couple of super zooms. Link to comment
