Two young bucks stay close together during rutting season......friends .........but for

how long?

I took this shot as they turned in unison to look at the clumsy photography (me)

stumbling through the undergrowth.

Your thoughts and comments are always appreciated. Thank You.

What a beautiful nature moment you caught here, Alf. Sharpness, colors, and the two of them looking at you work perfect for this excellent image. I can only  imagine how happy you must felt seeing and capturing these bucks. Congrats!

Warmest regards,

Beautiful work and a great find.  So nice of them to cooperate with their portraiture.  The most wonderful $1000.00 new lens I ever bought.  Best regards.

Such a wonderful opportunity to come upon these two fellows and then to get such a distinctive double portrait - you're really doing something right.

A Wonderful nature picture!  Clear and sharp with beautiful DOF and two lovely animals willing to do photographer's wishes come true!  Even the antlers "mixed up" so geometrically so the shot would be flawless...excellent my friend, Cheers!

Many Thanks........right time and right place......I took about another 30 shots of deer that day, but didn't feel that any of them were that special.

I couldn't believe my luck when they stopped and turned round to look at me, one of those magic moments, and I still managed to hold the camera still : - )

Sincere Thanks & Warm Regards

The other thing that struck was the similarity in size and growth of the two animals, maybe they actually were brothers : - )

Sincere Thanks for your thoughts and positive feedback Richard.

I agree, it is all the more remarkable when it occurs accidentally in nature.

Many Thanks

I think they must have felt sorry for me lugging that big lens around : - ) It is a great peice of kit though.

Many Thanks for your thoughtful feedback Dave!

JACK

I don't know Jack I think I was making far too much noise, doing something wrong and getting the right result might be more accurate : - )

Sincere Thanks

HOLGER

The more I practice the luckier I get : - )  It was a bit of good fortune though, sometimes alls it takes is the ability to see it.

Sincere Thanks & Best Regards

That is the beauty of this time of year, the light doesn't seem to get over bright.

MIKE

I think it was me stumbling over fallen branches and generally causing a commotion that made them turn around, sometimes it pays to be clumsy : - )

Many Thanks Mike!

As long as hunters only shoot them with a camera it's a dream I could share : - )

PANAYOTIS

Many Thanks for your thoughts and encouraging feedback, it is surprising to me that the couple look so similar and of the same age and build, then even more astonishing that they would stand together like this during rutting season.

Best Regards to you my friend!

You couldn't have captured these magnificent beasts any better even if somehow you had them pose for you.  I love how they are standing knee-deep in vegetation.

Best,

michael

We were all standing knee deep in vegetation, stinging nettles included : - )

But you have to go where the action is, and these guys seemed to like the undergrowth.

I was quite amazed when they turned to look at me in unison.......but then I had 30 or more fairly mundane shots that preceded this one.

Many Thanks Michael!

Not sure what I can add except to talk about all of the wonderful aspects of this image. Focused where it needs to be, two animals perfectly positioned (I am sure you told then to get a bit closer and turn their heads towards the camera)  (*_*)  with muted but natural looking colors. Captured with skill. Bravo!

PS The larger version allows us to better appreciate your skills.

TONY

I suppose this one makes up for all  the others were they looked away from the camera or had their heads buried in the deep vegetation.  It was an enjoyable excursion though, and worth being patient for in the end.  Glad you enjoyed this one Tony, and my sincere thanks for your thoughtful feedback.

Oh my gosh!!!  This is amazing!  2 gorgeous animals in the perfect setting!  How much did you have to bribe them to pose for you this way?  ;-)   But you had to have the timing and skill to capture it!  Excellent work!

Of course the ones you didn't see came before this, the ones with half a head buried in the grass, or the blurred ones, or the ones when some pesky photographers gets on the other side of the deer so that they appear in you image, and you know they are thinking exactly the same thing : - ) I followed these guys for a while with just a view of their rear ends, it was a very welcome surprise when they turned to look at me!

Thank you Christal!

The symmetry goes well with these cute creatures dignified attitude (pose)! The bokeh on the background is well spread and does well too!
