My wife and I took Iris, our granddaughter, to visit my mother this

afternoon. Here she is sitting on an antique foot stool.

I really like the way you have utilised the window light and the model is delightful!

A lovely portrait by any standard, but I'm wondering if you could use the content aware tool to get rid of the brightly illuminated leaf above her head or maybe just tone it down slightly.  Also consider losing the table with the papers on it (far left)

Just suggestions, but a beautiful photograph as it is.

Best Regards

Great suggestions, Alf. I hadn't noticed the bright leaf, but I could tone it down some.  This was, as almost all of my people shots are, spontaneous and not set up.  The table with papers were there.  I'm undecided to leave them there or keep them. As a documentary type photo, I'm reluctant to alter the photo totally just for aesthetics, although I'm not against alterations altogether.
