Where do I start. Alf this is a real treat for the eyes, Viewing this larger is a must, for me anyway. The rich greens of the foreground as well as the trees near the structures are great but it's the layers and reflections I like most. Great detail like the reeds barely protruding above the surface all seen when viewed larger make this a keeper for me. Take care.

Best Always,

Holger

I've been looking at this picture for a long time, and I like everything here. It is a beautiful scenery, photographed with great skill and attention to detail. Really like the composition with the grass in the foreground.  The reflection on the water is fantastic and the colors are attractive. And of course the fog... which adds a mystical and dreamy touch. (Love the houses too) Thanks for sharing!

Kind Regards,

Rosario.

Sublimely serene, a place for meditation or, heck, as you note, just a place to let off steam ;-).  Absolutely beautiful... Mike

Wonderfully crafted composition. Ethereal with the mist, tranquil with the verdant greens. HAH! Only just noticed it's you Al - well, what more do I need to say! Keep up the good work old bean! :-)

Hi Alf!

This is one of the best landscape images I have seen here in photo.net!

I tried to come up with something that could improve the image further, but all the elements in this image are already excelently balanced creating this beautiful vivid scenery...

Thank you so much for your thoughtful comments. It is always best to view my work larger as they are optimised for the larger size and as you have said, more detail becomes visible.

I am really pleased you like this one!

Best Regards

It is always very rewarding to know another photographer has viewed a photo of mine for a length of time. Thank You!

There are four little boat houses on this lake, but only two are visible here.

It is strange that one photo can be seen as my best work by one viewer and just the opposite by another but I guess that's the complexity of taste and that is so different amongst us all.

It is very gratifying to read that the peace and solitude was communicated to you in the way you have so eloquently described.

Sincere Thanks

It was the lake  that was "letting off steam" on this occasion I was already nicely chilled out by the beautiful scenery on the journey : - )

Of course it wasn't long before the midge population descended upon me once again ......oh yes and then a horse fly decided to join in the feast and my hand swelled up like an inflated marigold glove : - )  Bring back the winter when the only thing that bites me is Jack Frost!

Many Thanks Mike!

Hi Alf, Remember we talk about mist and fog before, you said you get excited when you go to the Lake District and its misty. Well I must be the opposite, I just don't like the stuff. As you said one man's meat is another man's poison.

All The Best

Yes, Atmospherics are always a plus, as these phenomena don't come along every day. In this case with the mountainside being reflected in the water split with the mist, well this isn't going to happen again, and if it does, who's going to be around in time to catch it? This image keeps the eye busy roaming all around the frame keeping this viewers attention. Fleeting.

As all previous said there are so many elements here that must be seen.Composition is complex from foreground to bg and way is done shows me that you very carefully thought to all this.I like all layers here and mist gives a dreamy mood a bit.A pleasure to see it.

A real visual feast ...A fellow judge at at a competition looking at a picture that I gave high points to, she said; 'no is too good' .....Well she is entitled to her opinion...:-).

Sincere congratulations my friend!.

The shed, fog, and focus are fabulous.  However, the image is a bit busy and I find my eyes quickly travelling out the left side of the image to nowhere.  This can often be a problem when land and reflections combine to act as an arrow to point in one direction, as here.  To offset this, there should be an anchor to stop the eye (and not your name & date!), such as if the shed was "placed" in the left upper third, or if there was an interesting cloud formation in the upper left.  Also, I feel that the grasses in the lower left are too much-- they add a weight and lack interest.  And it took me a while to figure out that the yellow brown objects in the water below the mist are grasses; at first I thought they were tree trunk reflections that were badly placed/processed.  Looks like a great place; perhaps keep simplicity in mind next time.  Regards, Jeff
