The remarkable thing about this image is the even spacing between the deer, it is as if they have been caught with a rapid burst of shots and stitched together, though I'm sure that isn't the case.

I really like it!

Compliments!

Hi Christoph,

I like this in addition to the companion image posted in MiN. The deer give the scene an urgency. Viewed large the lighting really comes through and all the shadows add a nice depth. The fat snowflakes lend a movement to the whole scene. One of my favorite aspects of the image you posted in MiN is the effect from the snowflake splatted front element. Here, it's easy to see how that happened. Thanks for sharing this one.

Good Morning Alf and Laura.

Yes, it was a crazy morning that day. Too good to pass up. The park is a golf course within the city, without any truly large forested areas. That morning I saw those deer crossing the large open field making their way to a small forested area at the edge of the park. At that time I was still getting ready and the composition would not have been very good for a shot, so I missed them. A few minutes later they came back. I think the morning rush hour traffic kept them from crossing into the wooded cemetery across the street.
I had been shooting a flock of geese before taking my final shots straight into the snow (a quick burst of images of the oak tree that Laura mentioned from the MiN forum). By that time I could hardly see any more. My glasses were coated with snow, snow was melting everywhere, including the viewfinder, I looked like Santa Claus, and all of that within, maybe, ten-fifteen minutes.  It was great! And I had all day to dry out once I got to work. :-)

Thank you both for your comments!

Christoph,

You should send these to Hallmark to use on Christmas cards:-) Nice work. Nothing beats being in the right place at the right time. Cheers, Jim

Hi Jim,

you know, one could put little red LED's into their noses. That's actually an idea from my son who loved the Christmas card idea. Always the little engineer he now wants to "build" one for his grandparents. I foresee the use of lots of glue and red glitter - if he still remembers in November.

Thank you for your kind comment!
