I didn't read the dedication before posting my comment. Obviously this color image is appropriate for the situation. As a pure photograph, I still prefer the other version.

Wonderful image and appropriate dedication.  Sometimes we over-analyze images without stopping to consider their emotional and, yes, spiritual, impact. Great job, Phil

Is powerful one Laurent,I like a lot the upper part  with splendid tone color and halo, right long cloud and intense blue contrast is so good.In my mind I think me too that as photo bw is very good but now I must say that  this one which is natural as eyes can see there must be appreciate too.A good thought for those who need in difficult moment.

First, just a terrific subject, that classic church. Second, the subdued lighting and flare, almost halo-like, works so well here. Very VERY nice!!

Laurent a very spiritual shot which is better in colour than B & W. (for me)  We often forget how we feel, our emotions etc., can shape our photos. The emotion is very clearly conveyed in this shot and expresses an emotion we can relate to. Good luck to JG in his battle. Best wishes William.

Thank you for the very appreciated observation my friend.I pushed the saturation up on this one to extract the good natural tones creeping up in the misty sky.And thank you for the thought for my friend;he does not know about this yet and I will later forward this to him with these kind thoughts.

Salutations-Laurent

You've taken many images of this Church Laurent, but the sunlight and rainbow (?) behind the 'steeple' are so perfect. You certainly were in the right place at the right time. This image is very 'timely', beautiful title.

kind regards, Gail

Thank you for viewing and for the kind observation. The halo is from the sun behind that cloud cover;I stayed, observed and followed the sun as it was dropping, always moving to have it hidden behind the steeple. The halo was highlighted in PP mainly by working the shadows and saturation.I titled the resulting image for my friend as noted above.

That's a sundog behind the steeple, and it's the best placement of one I've seen in many years on PN. Great eye, well done and congrats on capturing the moment!

Hi Laurent,  Looks like I'm a straggler in responding to this wonderful image.  I prefer this one to the closer up more square format, although both are lovely and impactful.  You have captured the sun in a perfect position and caught a arced halo that almost looks like a rainbow.  I think my preference for this image is due to the wider context of the scene and the lit clouds to the right and pinkish low cloud to the left.  For me, these elements give the image depth and keep me viewing the image for a long period of time.   My compliments on both of these superb images.  Larry
